We completed three sessions of community engagement with FilipinX Women, Youth and an Indigenous Elder. During the community consultation, participants shared their ideas for what they would like to see in a FilipinX Women Empowerment mural and FilipinX Youth Empowerment Mural.

The community engagement brought together different generations of FilipinX (First, 1.5, second, third, mixed Filipino participants), FilipinX of different ages 14 years old to FilipinX Elders in their 80’s. Different demographics of FilipinX from students, to working professionals, business owners, activists, and retired individuals.

This is only the second and third FilipinX Murals in Mohkinstsis/Calgary and it is important to have public art that represents our stories, our communities and our culture.
